Our Story
The Irish Heritage Family Trust is dedicated to helping individuals discover and celebrate their Irish ancestry. Founded by Stephanie Woollard, who is also our CEO, the Trust stems from her personal journey of connecting with her heritage. Stephanie was once in the same situation, eager to trace her roots. Through her research and stories from her grandmother, she has had the privilege of experiencing some of the best moments of her life in Ireland.
While living and working in Ireland, Stephanie had the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of her grandmother, Nora Delia Brown, who hailed from the west of Ireland. Nora's journey from a tiny village in County Mayo to Australia, where she raised her family, serves as an inspiration to Stephanie and to the mission of the Trust. With a passion for preserving and sharing Ireland's rich cultural heritage, we provide comprehensive services that guide you through the process of uncovering your family history. Whether you are just starting your genealogical journey or looking to deepen your connection with your Irish roots through immersive heritage trips, we are here to assist you every step of the way.
PRONI
The authority and education layer
PRONI is the official archive and record office for Northern Ireland. Its statutory role is to receive, preserve, and make available public records and privately deposited archives. This makes PRONI a strong authoritative resource for visitors researching Northern Irish family history.
The supplied PRONI material supports a beginner-friendly process: start with what you know, work backwards, talk to relatives, collect names, dates, and places, inspect family documents and photographs, and then move into records such as census returns, church registers, wills, valuations, maps, school records, and local-history material.
PRONI has also made millions of historical name indexes searchable, including valuation records from 1864 to 1933. This is useful proof that archive research can move a visitor from a vague family story toward a real person or place.
